When Leaving House for a Need or Travel

O, Muhammad! Whosoever intends to leave his family, and travel [to faraway lands] to take care of his responsibilities and businesses, and who wishes that I fulfill his requests, and then to return safely to his family should recite this Prayer, once he has left his house:

In the name of Allah during my departure, and by His permission I go out, and He knew before I depart, and His knowledge has counted what is in my departure and return. I have put my trust in the God Who is Greater than to be described, the trust of one who entrusts his affair to Him and seeks His help in his affairs, seeking increase from His grace, absolving himself from all power and strength except by Him. The departure of the blind, who goes out with his blindness to the one who will remove it, and the departure of the poor, who goes out with his poverty to the one who will suffice him, and the departure of the dependent, who goes out with his dependence to the one who will enrich it, and the departure of the one whose Lord is the greatest of his trust, the greatest of his hope, and the best of his desire. Allah is my trust in all my affairs, in all of them I seek His help, and nothing except what Allah wills in His knowledge. I ask Allah for the best of the departure and the entry. There is no god but Him, and to Him is the [final] destination.

For indeed, when he says this, I direct him to his entrance and exit with joy, and I bring him back safely.
