When Afflicted with Poverty and Destitution

O Mohammad, whoever is afflicted with poverty in his worldly life and loves to be freed from it, he should invoke me and say:

O the Abode of the treasures of the rich and O the Enricher of the poor from the abundance of those treasures by giving the bounties to them, and looking (kindly) at them, O Allah, no one is named as God other than You. Indeed, the gods, all of them, are worshiped other than You, through falsehood and lies. There is no god but You, O the Hinderer of poverty, O Healer of brokenness, O Reliever of distress, O Knower of all secrets, bless upon Mohammad and his family and have mercy on my fleeing to You from my poverty. I ask You by Your name which is in Your richness, whose rememberer (reciter) never becomes poor, to protect me from the permanence of poverty that makes me forget religion or by the evil of wealth that distracts me from obedience. By the right of the light of all Your names, I seek from Your sustenance enough for this worldly life to safeguard my religion. I find no one but You. The sources of provisions are with You, so benefit me from Your power in it by removing what has afflicted me of poverty. O Rich One, O Responder.

For indeed, when he says that, I remove poverty from his heart, cover him with wealth, and make him of the contented ones.
