To Make Any Sorrow Or Pain Disappear
O, Muhammad! Whosoever, from among your Ummah [i.e. Islamic Community] is distressed and grief-stricken, should invoke me in solitude and say:
O God…! O You, Who make all sorrow and pain, disappear…! O You, Who extend and expand, all kinds of constraint, pression, and restriction…!
You have more rights over the people than they have over themselves, in regard with their lives and goods! You it was, who created lives, and taught them the good and the bad…!
O You, Who make all kinds of sorrow and pain disappear! Indeed, a sorrow and a complication have stricken me, and my bosom is constricted, by the pain that has seized and gripped me so very tightly...!
O God…! I fear I may be engaged in a “Fitnah” [i.e. tumult-oppression-trials-calamity-discord-opposition]…! O Allah…! O You, Who move and transform the eyes and the hearts…! O You, Whose Recall and Evocation will tranquilize the hearts of the human beings: Save and Liberate me from this great sorrow! Grant me Your Joy and Relief…!
However, if and when You will turn my sorrow and my pain, away from my humble person, Make it so that I may not forget You! I am begging and beseeching You: I invoke You, by the power of the Name, which is indescribable [and we only know its significance and its definition]. Because You have hidden it behind the veil of “Invisible”…! By the power of that [Glorious] Name of Yours, Deign to take away my sorrow, and by destroying and erasing my pain and sorrow, pray, Do extend and expand my bosom, O You, the Generous One!
[O Muhammad!] Verily, when he makes this Prayer, I will protect him, and will remove his grief and sadness, and he will never be stricken again, by any kind of distress or sorrow.
